NETWORK ENGINEER

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Network Consulting Engineer (NCE) will work on site with the customer in support of the customer's network solutions and providing troubleshooting assistance. Responsibilities include performing analysis and diagnosis of highly complex networking problems; performing analysis of highly complex network designs; and building simulated networks in test labs to resolve highly complex problems and compatibility issues. The NCE may perform any of the following components of the role breakdown depending on specific engagements including:

Transactional Projects Project Engineering role: generating standard project documentation including detailed test plan for highly complex networks; generating network configurations from Low Level Design for highly complex networks; supporting pre-sales activity for highly complex networks; and planning and executing highly complex Network Upgrade and Network Migration activity.

Project Consulting role: leading design workshop.

Proactive Service & Support: assisting customer with deployment and strategy of highly complex tools and related Network Management Systems; and leading design workshop.

Reactive Service & Support: troubleshooting and resolving highly complex customer network problems across a broad range of technologies; and acting as a focal point for highly complex network problem resolution.

Advanced Services Technology Specialization Teams: providing training to other NCEs as well as real-time escalation response for support issues; and responsibility for driving regional Advanced Services projects.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Engineer position requires CCIE (or equivalent) with extensive knowledge in Routing and Switching technologies, voice and security experience a plus. Expert level internetworking troubleshooting in a large-scale network environment. Excellent leadership, mentoring and customer support skills. Ability to work in complex, politically driven environments. Excellent written & verbal communication skills. Ability to interface with all levels of GSS team, Federal Sales Team, TAC, and Development Engineering usually participating in or leading complex network performance engineering or problem resolution projects.

EDUCATION:

BS, CS, or University degree equivalent plus 6-8 years experience in network engineering or telecommunications support environment.
